The "Nikita" project began in 2012 when Roberto Pozzo contacted Richard Black to custom craft a very personalized cue for one his good friends. In November 2012, design details were initiated with Roberto making a trip to Blackwood, Richard's home and botanical estate just north of Houston, Texas, USA.
Roberto decided he wanted the custom cue to be inspired by a sand painting he owned. Detailed photos were provided of that painting to Richard. They agreed upon a final design and the project was launched.
The actual work on the cue was started in March 2013 and it was completed in September 2013. The commission includes the cue with two shafts, a wooden presentation case inlaid with another design from the sand painting, a build book, and a velvet bag for the presentation case. Richard also hand carved a wooden cap protector for the butt of the cue plus wooden cap protectors for the tow shafts.
This was easily the most enjoyable project Richard has had the good fortune to undertake.
