Dancers was inspired by a sketch done by Willem deKooning (arguably the best modern abstract artist of the 20th century). It was untitled and done on brown kraft paper (supposedly because he didn’t have the money for a new canvas). Needless to say it was typical of his off the wall abstract art. The cue was executed in boss relief and done in walnut with a light walnut stain. The tiny abstract dancers inlaid in 18kyg in the collar rings seemed to fit this major work of art. The accompanying wooden presentation case also done in burled black walnut completes one of the most fun and gratifying cues I have done. |
