Big Dog The five major inlay icons, in the butt section, were chosen to represent some of the major life happenings for the client and many hours of internet research time were consumed to select the appropriate images he wanted to represent his memories. Even the choice of blue and white diamonds has its own significance. The ebony wood and the many ounces of 18KYG used factored in to the 60” length of the cue and keeping the playing weight and balance was a major obstacle in its construction. The client’s lucky number eight was used several times in the cue, including as an inlay pattern for the collar rings. There is even an inconspicuous engraving in remembrance of how his father signed off on the letters he wrote to him.
The wooden presentation case also presented weight challenges. To incorporate the three shafts he wanted and the heavy gold plated lions head on top made it necessary to use a lighter weight wood and do the many coats of finish in a black coloring. To complete the entire package he wanted an 18KYG chalk cube holder and a gold plated scruffier. The name plate on the case is also 18KYG. The total project includes a buildbook. This is truly a custom crafted and designed cue!
